One path. Two plans. One goes further.
Per attorney seat, per month. Paralegals and staff don't count toward seat pricing.
If Initio isn't pulling its weight in your firm's first sixty days, request a full refund from the dashboard. No phone tree, no escape interview.
Click "Request refund" on Account → Plan. We’ll review and respond by email.
60 days from your first charge. Counts from when billing starts, not from your first inquiry.
Nothing. The entire amount paid is returned, including any prorated overage.
Subject to a fair-use ceiling on heavy usage during the 60 days. The dashboard shows you where you stand before you submit.
Yes. The trust account you set up during onboarding is a real IOLTA-compliant trust account through Confido Legal, our payments partner. Confido is built specifically for legal trust accounting, so card processing fees do not come out of client funds — that's a hard requirement under most state bar rules, and it's the reason we chose Confido over a generic processor like Stripe for client payments. You apply for the trust account directly with Confido as part of your firm onboarding, and the account belongs to your firm.
(Note: Initio's own subscription billing runs on Stripe — that's separate from the trust account that holds client funds.)
Seats are billed per active attorney, and Stripe prorates immediately when the count changes. When you invite a new attorney, the seat is added the moment they activate their account (not at invite time) — so you don't pay for invitations that haven't been accepted. When you deactivate an attorney, the seat is removed immediately and Stripe credits the unused portion against your next invoice.
The owner seat can't be deactivated below 1 — there's a guard that prevents it. If the owner needs to leave the firm, the right path is to transfer ownership to another attorney first.
Billing starts the moment you complete Stripe Checkout during signup. There's no trial — your first month is charged immediately, and the renewal date is set to the same day next month. After Checkout, our system finishes provisioning your firm (Confido, scheduling, document templates, welcome emails) and you'll get an activation email to log in.
After that, Stripe bills automatically on the same day each month. You can see your renewal date and seat count on your billing page.
When you cancel through the Customer Portal, your subscription continues running until the end of your current billing cycle — you keep full access through the date you've already paid for. At cycle end, the subscription terminates and a 30-day data retrieval window begins. During that window your data is preserved and we can export it on request (matters, leads, documents, audit trail). After 30 days, the data is scheduled for deletion.
If you change your mind during the wind-down, you can resubscribe directly from your billing page and pick up where you left off.
No setup fees, no per-firm activation charge, no hidden modules. The seat price you see is the price you pay — billed monthly per active attorney.
The one separate cost is Confido Legal, our trust-account payments partner. Their fees are separate from your Initio subscription and follow their own pricing. We chose Confido specifically because their fee structure is built for IOLTA compliance — card processing fees don't come out of client trust funds, which is what your state bar requires. You'll see their pricing during the Confido firm application step of onboarding.
Everything else — Cal.com scheduling, document templates, e-signature, AI inquiry replies, the dashboard, the audit trail — is included in your seat price.
